Restaurant data accuracy, coverage and freshness
Restaurant data quality is whether a provider holds the outlet, describes it correctly and checked it recently: Dashmote holds 20M+ venues in 60+ countries, with outlet records updated monthly. This page shows what that covers, what the data cannot see, and how to check it on your own territory before your reps rely on it.

Coverage: per country and channel
Coverage is the share of the market a provider actually holds. Ours counts open on-premise outlets in 5 channels: restaurants, bars and pubs, cafes, hotels and quick service. A country counts as covered when it has 1,000+ open outlets with a record; that is 60+ countries, 25+ of them in Europe.
Three European examples:
- United Kingdom: 290,000+ open outlets, 87% of them independent.
- Germany: 320,000+ open outlets, 94% independent.
- Netherlands: 77,000+ open outlets, 93% independent.
The independent share matters because most of the market sits outside the big groups, and that long tail is where lists built on chain directories run thin. Counts per country and channel are on our outlet database page.
Freshness: how each layer is updated
A record is only useful if it is recent enough that a rep does not walk into a venue that has changed. We state freshness per layer rather than as one claim:
- Outlet records: updated monthly. 200,000+ outlets were first seen in the last 90 days.
- Delivery app storefronts: re-observed monthly, 15M+ storefronts on 100+ platforms.
How we keep the data accurate
Quality is built into every step, not checked once at the end:
- Several sources per outlet. Each record draws on more than one public source, so one stale listing does not decide what is true.
- One record per real venue. Each venue is counted once, with its menu, delivery listings and reviews on the same record.
- Open means open. Venues that close drop out of the counts, and new venues are added as they appear.
- People check the machines. AI reads at scale, and specialists review its work before it ships.
- Checks on every release. Every release is checked before it reaches you.
- Your feedback counts. When you flag a record, we fix it for every team that uses it.
Every published number comes with a definition, so you always know what was counted.
Definitions behind every number
Two providers can report very different counts for the same city because they count different things. These are the definitions we use:
- Open outlet: a restaurant, bar or pub, cafe, hotel or quick-service venue that is trading. Permanently and temporarily closed venues are excluded.
- Chain: the same trading name at 5+ open locations in one country.
- Independent: an outlet that is not part of such a chain.
- Delivery storefront: one outlet on one delivery app. A venue on three apps has three storefronts.
- Outlet with a menu read: an outlet whose menu content we have read, not only one with a delivery link. That is 5M+ menus in 60+ countries.
What the data cannot see
Any outlet dataset has blind spots, and you should know ours before you buy.
- Venues with no public footprint. A venue with no public trace online is hard for anyone to find.
- Menus that are not public. Brands on a menu are only visible where the menu is published and readable, which is why we have read 5M+ menus, not one for every venue.
- What is behind the bar. Stock in the back room, prices agreed off the menu, and supply terms that are not public do not show up in public sources.
- Sales volumes. We show where a brand is listed, not how much it sells. Share of sales is a market measurement question.
- Every delivery storefront. Some delivery storefronts we track are not joined to their outlet, and apps we do not cover are not in the count.

Check it yourself on 50 outlets
The best accuracy test is a territory your team knows. All it needs is one rep who knows the territory.
- Pick 50 outlets in one territory: current accounts, outlets you know but do not supply, and a few recent openings.
- Look up each one and check: still trading, the right channel, the menu, and the brands listed on it.
- Count outlets found, records correct, and outlets in the territory your team did not know about.
- Run the same 50 through any other provider you are considering.

Frequently asked questions
How fresh is restaurant data, and how often should it be updated?
Ask how each layer is updated, with numbers rather than a general claim. Dashmote's outlet records are updated monthly, 200,000+ outlets were first seen in the last 90 days, and delivery storefronts are re-observed monthly.
How accurate is Dashmote's restaurant data?
We publish coverage and freshness numbers instead of one accuracy percentage, because accuracy depends on the territory and the field. The best check is 50 outlets your team knows: count outlets found, records correct and outlets your team had not seen.
How many countries does Dashmote cover?
Dashmote covers 60+ countries with 1,000+ open outlets each, 25+ of them in Europe. Delivery app data covers 60+ countries.
Does Dashmote cover independent outlets or only chains?
Both, and most outlets are independent. In the United Kingdom, for example, 87% of open outlets are not part of a chain of 5+ locations.
What does the data not show?
It does not show venues with no public footprint, menus that are not published, stock or prices agreed behind the bar, or sales volumes. It shows where brands are listed and how each outlet presents itself in public.

For the person signing off
Data quality turns into business value in three places:
- Fewer wasted visits: recent records mean fewer trips to venues that have changed.
- The full market: independents as well as chains, so the new doors are in the list, not missing from it.
- A test before you commit: check us on your own territory before your reps rely on the data.
